Feb 2019 Update from our Family

Our family, Christmas 2018

The boys are on the East coast. Scott lives out of a Ronald McDonald House. He chooses to walk 45 mins to the hospital each day to get his exercise. He refuses to cut his beard until Grant gets home; which is probably a good choice as Baltimore is not known to be the safest area of our country. He has reported walking by people with needles sticking out of their body. Um, yeah...anyway, he works during the day. It's not easy, but he is doing it for G. I am so grateful to his company for being so supportive; just as mine was to me.

Grant is ok. He had the flu bug thing in Jan and it followed with a cold virus. Because of this it has slowed everything down once again. If you are ill, you can't get atheistic. He has restarted at ECT after a long break. They have suggested adding meds back and I have mixed feelings (to say the least). One thing at a time, these are not easy decisions.

In the next week, I believe the dr's are ready to make the really, really hard decision of whether G should continue ECT or throw in the towel. If we are done, then he will be home in about 3 weeks. If we continue ECT, then I am not sure another month to 2 I suppose. It hasn't felt positive in the last week. So, I am prepping for him to come home early/mid-March, not the later.

Scott is aggressively trying to get things done. He is working hard to make sure there is a RIfton chair when G gets home (high chair). We can continue his feeding protocol. He is committed to helping G eat food and not rely on his g-tube. However, having the g-tube is a God-send. Meds and back up if food is not consumed.

He has a port in his chest. So far no infections or complications. There was a scare no more than 3 weeks ago when they sent him to Hopkins (once again) and pumped him with antibiotics and worried it was something more significant than a cold. I was silently worried. Chest x-rays, etc. It was an overreaction. It's better than under reaction...I guess.

By now, we should have had a clearer picture of his time out East, but the sickness has not made this possible.

As for me, I enjoy the quiet. The house is as clean as I prefer. Neighbors exceed my expectations with snow removal. I do feel loved. I visit with friends and family. I am living a life that I hardly remember. Naps, phone calls, coffee, lunches, and getting fully caught up on Netflix. I could adopt an exercise class or what not, but I hate to start something I would have to quit. Too much unknown and frankly too much to do as my make-believe timer ticks before the boys comes home.

I teach elementary art until 2 and work a real estate agent nights and weekends. I am grateful for those that have recommended me or have chosen me as their RE consultant. I am excited that this will be a very busy spring! I am very proud of my work in 2018 and am hoping to do the same in '19.

The market is strong for sellers. There are just not enough houses to choose from! I have been working on a new website (yes, I still love working on graphic design work when I can and I am working on my new blog over there that is similar to this one or will be a hybrid. I don't know figuring it out. I hope you will join me over there as this is where my creativity energy is going to be focused when I am not busy doing something else.
